Portlaoise Panthers avoided relegation on the last day of the Women’s Premier League season with a 59-57 win at home to Courtyard Liffey Celtics. Peter O’Sullivan’s side were 12 points in arrears at one stage before surging back into contention. Captain Maeve O’Sullivan and American Nicole Arnone scored all of their points in a dramatic final quarter.
Courtyard Liffey Celtics were in full control of the opening quarters as Suzanne Maguire picked off any open shots that came her way.

Panther’s led briefly at the start of the second quarter but weren’t back on terms until two minutes remained.
The result means UL Huskies are relegated. The Limerick side finished level on points with Panthers but lose out on the head-to-head record between the two sides.
