Ireland U20 Men's Squad Update

The Ireland U20 Men’s squad now stands at 14 players with final preparations underway for FIBA European Championships in Greece in July. 

Head Coach Darren O Neill is expected to announced a final championship squad of 12 players in the coming weeks. 

The squad will join up with all active International Squads at a training camp in Gormanston this Saturday and Sunday. 

Of the 14 players remaining, 10 have previous experience of a European Championships with three based overseas and ten currently active in the Basketball Ireland National League. 

Four players competed in last year’s European Championships at U18 level (Jordan Blount, Martin Neary, Stephen O’Hanlon, Joseph Tummon) while five players played at the same level in 2014 (Charlie Coombes, Sean Flood, Conor Gilligan, Eoghain Kiernan, Diarmuid O’Shea). Both sides finished in 22nd place. 

Gary Barron is the sole survivor from the U16 European Championship squad that finished 20th in 2011.
