Basketball Ireland Men's Super League

Templeogue won the bragging rights in their top of the table clash with UCD Marian, as they overcame their close rivals 89-80 in the final game of the Men’s Super Series weekend at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght.

Bonaparte top scored for Templeogue in a game that was neck-in-neck throughout most of the second half. 
Earlier on in the weekend, Éanna secured their first win of the Men’s Super League at the weekend as they overcame DCU Saints 77-73 in a nail-biter.

“We put a lot of work in during the week so we were more disciplined - that was the difference,” said a delighted Head Coach, Mick Thompson. “We did what we had practised, and we’re delighted. You can see how hard the lads are willing to work: it’s just a matter of doing what we know we can do and hopefully get more results.”

Elsewhere, Pyrobel Killester overcame Belfast Star, Irish TV Tralee won out over SSE Airtricity Moycullen, Griffith Swords Thunder claimed victory against Radisson Blu UL Eagles while UCC Demons just had the edge on KUBS BC, 77-74, in an absolute thriller on Sunday afternoon.

“It’s great to win a close game like that – it’s great experience,” said Courtyard Liffey Celtics Head Coach, Mark Byrne, after his side just edged NUIG Mystics on Saturday evening, 68-63. 
Emma O’Connor top scored for the Kildare team, netting 21 on the night.

“I’m delighted with our girls,” Byrne continued. “They stuck to their task and did well. We’re away to Glanmire now next and we’re looking forward to that. Every time you play them it’s an opportunity to test yourself against the best.” 

Speaking of Ambassador UCC Glanmire, the Cork side retained their lead at the top of the table with a 62-59 point win over Meteors, with Chantell Alford top scoring for Glanmire with 25 points. Elsewhere, a strong second half performance from Maxol WIT Wildcats saw them overcome Pyrobel Killester 65-60, while DCU Mercy had too much for Singleton SuperValu Brunell, running out 80-48 point winners, with Sarah Fairbanks netting 26 points.
