Irish Senior Women take on Ireland U18 Women this weekend

  • May 10,2017

All roads lead to the Mardyke Arena in Cork this weekend as the Ireland Senior Women’s squad teams up with the Irish Under 18 team for a day of training that culminates in a match at 5pm on Saturday evening (May 13th).

The two panels will train in Cork on Saturday, and Irish Senior Women’s Head Coach, Mark Scannell is looking forward to it:

“We’re delighted to have the Under 18 squad down in Cork this weekend for a joined up training session and game as they prepare for the FIBA Under 18 Women’s European Championships in Dublin this August. It will be great for them to train and play against the senior women’s squad who will no doubt share their invaluable knowledge and expertise with the team.

“This will be a great match for us as well to get some court time before we head to Luxembourg the following weekend for two games. We are also gearing up for the Mardyke Series which will see Iceland come to Ireland to play two games in June – one here in the Mardyke Arena in Cork on June 9th and the second game in the National Basketball Arena in Dublin on June 10th.”

This Saturday’s game tips off at the Mardyke Arena at 5pm and all donations at the door to help the teams fundraise for the season would be gratefully appreciated.
