Basketball Ireland Men's Super League 

Griffith College Swords Thunder continued their winning ways as they edged out Black Amber Templeogue in an overtime thriller at Oblate Hall on Saturday evening in front of a packed crowd. 



Despite Lorcan Murphy netting an impressive 32 points, it was Thunder’s Travis Black’s performance in the second half that was the catalyst to the visitor’s victory.




Garvey’s Tralee Warriors made the long trip up north to go head-to-head with Belfast Star. Top scoring from Trae Pemberton and Goran Pantovic from Tralee Warriors secured them the 66-79-point win in the end. 



DCU Saints meanwhile travelled to IWA-Clontarf to take on neighbours Pyrobel Killester in a North Side clash in front of an enthusiastic crowd. A third quarter run from the home team brought Killester out the better side with a comfortable 98-66 win, while on Sunday UCC Demons proved too much for KUBS.

Basketball Ireland Women’s Super League: 

Courtyard Liffey Celtics dropped their first game of the season on Saturday as they lost out to Pyrobel Killester in the IWA Clontarf. A strong performance from Chantell Alford and Rebecca Nagle gave Killester the edge to claim victory.




It was a tough weekend for Maxol WIT Wildcats as the lost out 80-52 to DCU Mercy, while Portlaoise Panthers bounced back from their tough loss last week to take the win over NUIG Mystics. A superb performance from Stephanie Schmid who netted herself 30-points and led her side to victory.  


Meanwhile Singleton SuperValue Brunell went head-to-head against Ambassador Glanmire in a thrilling Cork derby match up. Trailing at the half, Glanmire had to dig deep in the fourth quarter to claim a 68-56 point victory.

Basketball Ireland Men’s Division One: 

Men’s Division One this weekend hosted a cracking top of the table clash as Neptune squared up against neighbours Ballincollig.

Neptune’s winning streak came to an end as Ballincollig won out 91-100, with some sharp shooting from Tres Pere and Ciaran O’Sullivan.

Elsewhere, two big results for Paris Texas Kilkenny as they made the trip on Saturday up to Dublin Lions to run out winners 81-111.



On Sunday they secured their second win of the weekend over Scotts Lakers St Pauls Killarney as they won out 86-72. Taylor Young, once again, put in a solid performance for the Kilkenny side.


Fr Mathews got the better of Scotts Lakers St Paul’s Killarney, while Portlaoise Panthers came out the right side against GameFootage.net Titans, winning out 97-79.

IT Carlow Basketball travelled the west to claim victory over EJ Sligo All Stars, while top scoring from Daniel Jokubaitis and Ivan Bogdanovic secured Keane’s Supervalue Killorglin win over LYIT Donegal.

Hula Hoops Senior Women’s Cup quarter final: 

In the Hula Hoops quarter finals Senior Women’s Cup Fr. Mathews continued their winning ways in a close and competitive clash with Marble City Hawks. The Kilkenny side took an early marginal lead in the first half but thanks to a standout performance from Niamh Dwyer, the full time result 44-42 was in favour of Fr Mathews.


Meteors meanwhile travelled to Belfast on Sunday to take on University Ulster Elks. A superb joint display from Meteor’s Shannon Brady and Kate O Flaherty secured their spot in the Hula Hoops Senior Women's Cup semi-finals.
