PREVIEW: Ireland U16 men face Sweden in classification game
August 14, 2019
In Montenegro, Ireland U16 finished fourth in their group at the 2019 U16 Men’s European Championships Division B and will face Sweden Thursday in their first classification game in the 9th – 16th bracket.
Ireland will be looking to build on their very positive performance against the Netherlands on Tuesday. Ireland are not a one man show with all twelve players getting court time and making positive contributions in the group stages, but in ND Okafor, Ireland’s standout performer to date, they have the leading rebounder in the tournament who averages a double double of 14 points and 14 rebounds per game. This team will need to have big performances from multiple players in the coming games for Ireland to achieve a 9th place finish but that is the goal and an achievable one.
Sweden are up next and they are a balanced team that gets contributions from all twelve players, one name to watch is Wilhelm Falk and his match up with Okafor is one to saviour.
