Irish win Bronze in Nice

Rathmines Basketball Club represented Ireland in the recent European Masters Games in Nice, France.

Competing in the Over 55 section, the Irish team finished third in their section and were awarded Bronze medals for their efforts.

The team featured players from Dublin, Athlone, and Scotland and played against teams from Russia, Australia, Latvia and France.

The European Masters Games attracted 10,000 competitors in age ranges from 35 to 95 in disciplines as varied as athletics, archery, beach volleyball, rugby, petanque and rowing.

Paul Gallen of Athlone also won gold in the over 60 mixed fours,while the Irish archery team won its first ever European gold in Over 60 category.
