Coaching Development Programme for Ireland Tutors Course

A coaching development programme is now available for basketball coaches in Ireland. The course is aimed at coaches who currently possess a level two qualification and would like to tutor Basketball Ireland coaching courses. The programme will be based in Limerick and will start on October 6th & 7th 2018 and Coaching Ireland are now seeking nominations. 

The remaining contact dates are as follows:

November 3rd & 4th 2018

December 1st & 2nd 2018

January 5th & 6th 2019

February 2nd & 3rd 2019

Booking Information:

How to Apply - Bookings are now being accepted for Tutor Development Course 35.

The course, which will take place at Coaching Ireland, University of Limerick will accommodate a maximum of 25 trainee tutors.

Places can be booked immediately and no later than August 15th, 2018.

Course places will be considered on a first come, first served basis.

The following criteria will also apply:

A needs analysis of NGB tutor requirements

Suitability of tutor nominee

An agreed pilot coach education syllabus in place.

Confirmation of places will be made to the NGB Coaching Contact.

Payment Structure:

The fee for Tutor Development Course 35 is €1,000.00 per trainee tutor. This fee includes payment for all course presentations, tutor manual, relevant handouts, meals and refreshments, as well as the observation of the tutor by a trained facilitator while they present at a coach education course organised by their NGB, nationwide.

The full payment of €1000 is due on application to arrive no later than August 15th, 2018. and must be paid by bank transfer to the Irish Sports Council.

Please note that cheques are no longer accepted by the Irish Sports Council.

You can book places immediately. Names of trainee tutors must be confirmed before August 15th, 2018. Please note that the Irish Sports Council may provide financial assistance for tutor training.

    Incorrect and incomplete application forms will not be processed

    Closing date for applications is close of business on Wednesday August 15th

    Applicants may be called to an Interview with the committee of Basketball Ireland Coaches

    The participating coach will have to sign a contract with Basketball Ireland Coaches and Basketball Ireland as part of the programme to provide assistance and information to the committee during and upon completion of the Tutor Development Course

Basketball Ireland Coaches Requirements:

    Must be a registered member and registered coach of Basketball Ireland.

    National League and/or superleague Experience or equivalent in another country

    National Teams Coaching

    Willingness to provide courses and clinics on information learned during course when finished TDC

    The Coach selected should hold a minimum of a Level 2 Coaching Qualification for at least three years.

    A member of the committee of BIC cannot apply for the TDC while they are a member of the committee.

    Must be at least 25 years old at the time the course commences in 2018.

    The cost of the course is €1000. The entire cost of the course must be covered by the participant.
