Brunell set up a semi-final with DCU Mercy in the U20 Women's National Cup with a 65-56 win at Glanmire. It was a crackling Cork derby where Danielle O'Leary's side maintained their tempo to eventually pull clear in the fourth quarter.

In the Senior Women's National Cup, Ulster Rockets progressed to the last eight by making home advantage count against Longford Falcons. There were just five points between the sides at half time but Rockets took off in the second half to win 74-37.

In the Men's Division One, Kestrels beat BFG Neptune 99-74 in Cork. It was the midlanders second win of the season and their first away from home.

Templeogue made it lucky number seven with a 79-70 win at UCD Marian in the Men’s Premier League despite the defensive efforts of the home side.  The unbeaten leaders were held to their lowest tally of the season as UCD Marian led midway through the second quarter and trailed by just four points at the end of the third. Lorcan Murphy was the game’s top scorer with 25 points. His second dunk of the game had the lead out to 18 points and UCD Rallied before a three-pointer from Sean Flood restored a comfort-zone.

31 points in the first quarter gave UL Eagles every chance of snapping their losing streak but visitors Pyrobel Killester eventually pulled through 79-70. Two Eoin Quigley spin moves either side of a three pointer from Staats Battle gave UL Eagles a superb start in the PESS Building. Paul Dick came off the bench for his first appearance for Killester in the second quarter and Jermaine Turner’s one-handed jam in the fourth sealed the win.

C&S UCC Demons and GCD Swords Thunder both picked up wins ahead of their meeting in Cork tomorrow. Demons were too strong for Eanna in Rathfarnham while 20 points from Cian Nihill wasn’t enough to get SSE Airtricity Moycullen close enough to Thunder down the stretch at the ALSAA.

In the Women’s Premier League, UL Huskies picked up their first win of the season at the expense of Meteors. The Limerick side put in a four-quarter performance before Cathy Grant quelled a Meteors comeback with a crucial drive in the fourth. Team fouls allowed Huskies to stretch the lead.

An improved defensive effort from Team Montenotte Hotel in the second half of their game against Portlaoise Panthers earned them a 70-56 win in Glanmire. TMH put up 35 points in both halves but turned a two-point lead into a 14 win in the space of 20 minutes. Panther’s Tiffany Turner had a game-high 27 points.

Scoring performance of the day went to Jazmen Boone as Maxol WIT Wildcats recorded an impressive 82-70 win at Pyrobel Killester. The American put up 36 points to put the South East side up to second in the table. Wildcats called a Time Out trailing 71-68 with 1:50 left to play and came back out with a 9-0 run to take the win.

It was another high-scoring day in Men's Division One. KUBS needed overtime to get out of jail with a 107-95 win over ITC Basketball. Harrison Deyo and Jimmy Ward combined for 56 points for the Carlow side but the league leaders were strongest in the last five minutes. Team Kilkenny snapped a two game losing streak with a 95-77 win at Fr Mathews while Neptune got back to winning ways beating JM&L Auctioneers Titans 96-78.

The top of the Women's Division One has a new look after NUIG Mystics beat second placed Oblate Dynamos and Ulster Rockets were beaten at home by Fr Mathews. October Player of the Month Siobhan Kilkenny was Mystics' top scorer yet again while Fr Mathews were 11 points better than a Rockets side who had played a Senior Women's National Cup tie on Friday night. Team Garvey's moved into fourth with a home win over Marble City Hawks.
