3x3 Players Wanted For European Championships

Basketball Ireland are looking for players interested in representing Ireland at the 2016 3x3 European Championships.
Ireland will once again compete in the European Championships at senior level for Men and Women while for the first time, squads will also be sent to compete at U18 level.
3x3 provided one of the stand out moments for Irish basketball in 2015, as the Senior Womenâs squad reached the quarter-finals at the European Games in Baku with wins over Slovenia and the Czech Republic.

Dates are as follows:
June 25th-26th: 3x3 Qualifying Event
July 2nd-3rd: 3x3 Qualifying Event
July 16th-17th: 3x3 Qualifying Event

Senior Players must be available on both of weekends outlined. In order to be eligible to play in European qualifying rounds, players must also have played in at least two registered 3x3 events between June 2015 and May 2016. A calendar of events will be in place allowing any interested players to meet these criteria, if they have not already done so.
A training programme will also run for the months of May and June.
Basketball Irelandâs 3x3 Programme Manager Matthew Hall says: âThe 3x3 game has received a lot of positive media coverage due to the excellent showing of the Senior Womenâs team and I am sure more will follow through the five-on-five format this summer. It is important that we keep this up and therefore need a wider base of players putting themselves forward for international basketball.â

This squad is open to all Irish passport holders that are registered with Basketball Ireland.
