South East Girls Final 2016

The first game of the day saw Ardscoil na Mara Tramore take on Colaiste Mhuire Johnstown look horns in the 1st year D final. The scoring got underway when a great move from Colaiste Mhuire was finished by Eimear Fitzpatrick, the top scorer of the match, racking up a total of 21. Ardscoil defended well in the first quarter, and got a lot of defensive rebounds, but Colaiste Mhuire dominated, scoring 23 by half time. However, Colaiste Mhuire were kept scoreless after great defending from Ardscoil, resulting in 2 great lay ups.
The 2nd Year 'B' Final saw Pres De La Salle Bagnesltown take on Dominican College Wicklow in what was a very exciting game. There were some great drives to the basket from Caoimhe and Shauna O Neill for the Carlow side. There were some great shots from outside the key for Dominican College, courtesy of Aoife Dunne and Emma Coffey. The final score at the finish of an end to end match was Pres De La Salle- 25, Dominican College - 10.
Castlecomer took on St Brigids Callan in the 2nd Year C Final, in what turned out to be a fantastic display of basketball. Emily Hughes was in fantastic form all afternoon, scoring 20 points after some great drives to the basket. There was great defence from Megan Brennan and Ciara Farrell for Castlecomer, as well as great shots from Leah Murray for St Brigids. St Brigids proved to be too strong, and ran out winners on a score line of 36 - 22.
The third game of the afternoon saw St Pauls Community College take on Colaiste Bride Enniscorthy in the 2nd year D final . St Pauls got off to a great start, scoring 3 baskets, two of which coming from top scorer Kaithlynn Joyce Jess. Leah O Donoghue was in great form for St Pauls shooting some great baskets, and Eabha Farrell scored 2 fantastic lay ups for the Wexford school. St Pauls proved to be the stronger team on the day, winning on a score line of St Pauls Community College Waterford 20, Colaiste Bride Enniscorthy 8.
Ardscoil na Mara Tramore took on Bridgetown of wexford in the first year C final. Both teams defended excellently, and there was very little between them in the end. At halftime, Ardscoil had a slim lead, ahead by 2 points, but with some fantastic steals being shown by Juliet Rochford and Annabel Doyle of Bridgetown, they got the score back to 8-8. The speed of the Ardscoil's fast break from Amirah Busairi and great finishing from Barbara Severec won it for them on the afternoon, with the finishing score of 14 - 10.
The last game of the day saw Loreto Kilkenny take on Scoil Ruain in the 1st Year B Final. This proved to be a great spectacle with nothing between the sides all the way through. Scoil ruain had a slight adavantge at the half but loreto got some vital scores near the end to clinch the tie on a score line of Loreto Kilkenny 18 Scoil Ruain 15.
