International teams partner with Longomatch

This summer, the Irish national teams partnered with video analysis software Longomatch to help the teams’ preparations for the European Championships.
Throughout the summer, Irish international coaches have been using the software to help them in the day to day preparations for their games at European Championships.
Silver medal-winning Irish Under 18 women’s Head Coach Tommy O’Mahony explained how video software helped his team in their push for promotion to the A Division.“Longomatch was invaluable to breaking down clips of individual plays and team plays during the Euros. It was very user friendly and a great tool for the girls to use to add to preparation for each game.”
Also speaking about the software, Ireland Under 18 men’s coach, Conor James stated: “Longomatch was really useful for myself and our coaches. It allowed us to isolate plays and scout other teams more effectively. At the European Championships, you have so many games there isn’t a lot of time to prepare, so having an easy to use tool was crucial for us.”
Dr. Tim Rice of Basketball Ireland’s Elite Performance Committee added: “Technology is a major part of developing sport athletes; in order to be competitive, we must be on the cutting edge to help our programme succeed and meet our objectives. Our agreement with Longomatch provides a great opportunity for our International teams to use video analysis to enhance practice techniques and prepare for future opponents for coaches, players and teams.
“LongoMatch can help not only in improving performance for our teams and players, but it can also to help our coaches become more efficient in their roles. It is a win-win for the long-term development of not only our players, but our coaches, as well."
