Silas Sunday ready to start new adventure in USA
November 09, 2017
In the latest instalment of our new series focusing on Irish players who are making waves overseas, we chat to 14-year-old Liffey Celtics player, Silas Sunday, just a few days before he heads to America to follow his basketball dreams.
For many 14-year-olds, being away from home would be a daunting prospect, but for Liffey Celtics and Ireland Under 15 star, Silas Sunday, the adventure is just beginning.
November 9th will see the talented young player jet off to the United States of America to begin the first step of a journey that he hopes will lead to big things for him in the future.
We caught up with Silas last week over at Dublin Lions, where he was working hard with the coaches there to prepare him for the big move.
"I’ve been playing basketball for six years now - so since the age of eight," he began.
"I started out with Liffey Celtics and from the past six years, they’ve helped me a lot to develop and worked a lot on my post play. I've also been working with Dublin Lions recently, and both clubs have supported me a lot."
Looking ahead to his move, which will see him attend Our Saviour Lutheran in the Bronx he reflected: "I’m looking forward to it, I’m not too nervous - though there’s a bit of nerves there. It’s cool and tough at the same time, I've a lot of friends here and I’ll be leaving them behind."
Best of luck Silas!
