U16 Men preparations on track with Irish Rail support
February 13, 2018
Preparations for the FIBA Under 16 European Championship Division B are in full swing for the Ireland Under 16 men's team at the moment, as they get ready to contest the championships in Sarajevo from August 9-18th, 2018.
The team's preparations are massively boosted ahead of the championships thanks to the ongoing support of Irish Rail, as they provide the squad with a valuable service which allows the young Irish athletes to travel around the country to their training sessions for free.
Speaking about Irish Rail's support and how valuable it is for the team, Ireland Under 16 team assistant coach, Carmel Kilmartin stated: "Irish Rail's support is absolutely fantastic for these young athletes as the squad enters the next stage of the programme, with European Championships approaching quickly.
"The sessions are really intense, with all of the players working really hard. With training venues located at a variety of places around the country, travel costs can be quite high for families and players. Thanks to the support of Irish Rail though, this is one burden that has been made significantly easier, and the management team would like to thank Irish Rail once again for the free travel for our squad for 2018. This has helped greatly and reduced costs for all players."
