CPSU appoints two National Head Coaches for BI Academies

The Coaching and Player Standards Unit (CPSU) has today announced the appointments of Martin McGettrick and Colin O’Reilly to the roles of National Head Coaches for the Basketball Ireland Academies for the 2018/19 season.
Coach McGettrick has been appointed as the National Head Coach for girls, while Coach O’Reilly is the National Head Coach for the boys.
They will work alongside the CPSU to ensure a cohesive and effective performance pathway for all Academy players and coaches, and each brings an abundance of specialist knowledge and experience in the development of elite players to the role.
“The CPSU is delighted with the number and quality of the candidates that applied for this exciting new role,” said CPSU chairperson, Rachel O’Connell. “We are very excited to appoint Coaches McGettrick and O’Reilly, two highly qualified and enthusiastic individuals, at this key moment in the expansion of the Academy structure.”
There are a number of additional roles yet to be filled in the Academies, including the positions of Regional and Provincial Head Coaches, Academy Coaches and Assistant Coaches.
The recruitment process for the Provincial and Regional Head Coaches will commence in the coming days.
