Ireland Under 18 Women's 3x3 team announced ahead of FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup qualifiers in France
The Ireland Under 18 women’s team who will represent Ireland at this year’s FIBA 3x3 Under 18 Europe Cup qualifiers in France, has been announced today by head coach Meagan Hoffman.
The team features Alex Mulligan (Ulster University Elks), Ciara Bracken (Courtyard Liffey Celtics), Katie Walshe and Simone O’Shea (Singleton SuperValu Brunell).
Speaking about the announcement, Coach Hoffman said: "This year we had a great turnout to the talent identification sessions, with so many of the girls understanding the style and tactics involved in 3x3 basketball. This made the selection process very difficult, but this is obviously a great problem to have, as it is evident that the 3x3 game is really developing here in Ireland.
“I am extremely excited about the team we have heading into the 3x3 Europe Cup qualifiers this year. We have great experience on the team with Simone who was on last year's Irish Under 18 3x3 team, Ciara who recently competed at the 3x3 IFS World Championships, and Alex and Katie who have shown that they really suit this style of game. These girls have been working extremely hard, and I'm looking forward to watching them compete next month in France."
The squad will compete at the qualifiers on August 4th and 5th.
