January 25, 2019
The panel for this Sunday's inaugural women's coaching forum at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght was announced today.
The panel includes both well-known Irish and international stars including: Radmila Turner, Maeve Coleman, Deirdre Brennan, Erin Bracken and Carmel Kilmartin.
Speaking about the announcement, Suzanne Maguire of the EPC (Elite Performance Committee) at Basketball Ireland said: "I am delighted to announce the panel joining us for the inaugural Women’s Coaching Forum, happening Sunday at the National Basketball Arena. The key for me was to put together a combination of notable women who have a strong voice, whose journey would resonate with attendees and who could positively contribute to the discourse. As a group they bring a wealth of experience & great success, but most importantly they represent the types of women we want to see more of in our game.
"In addition to Maeve, Deirdre, Erin and Carmel, I am delighted to welcome FIBA's Radmila Turner on the day. Currently the Head of National Federations and Sport, Youth and Anti-Doping for FIBA Europe, Radmila will bring a broader perspective on women’s involvement in Basketball.
"Personally, I am really excited for the event. The response to pre-registration has been fantastic which indicates to me that such an event has been a long time coming. Success for me is to get beneath the surface on a wide range of topics and agree key next steps to increase the visibility and prominence of women in Irish basketball."
