New Chairman appointed to the Board of Basketball Ireland
September 25, 2019
A new chairman for the Board of Basketball Ireland was ratified at the Board’s meeting on Monday (September 23rd).
Paul McDevitt will take over the role from outgoing chairman, Fran Ryan, and interim chairman, Padraig McLoughlin.
Speaking about the news, Mr. McDevitt stated: “I am honoured to be elected as chair. Fran Ryan and Padraig McLoughlin did a great job as chair and I hope I can build on their good work. I look forward to working with all the constituent bodies of Basketball Ireland so that we continue to increase participation in our sport.
“We have achieved a major milestone this year with the clearing of our legacy debt. This would not have been possible without our members, so on behalf of the board I would like to thank each and every member, past and present, for their continued support. We still have plenty of work to do to build our sport so that it recognised as one of Ireland’s premier team sports and the board will continue to work to achieve that.”
