Two open sessions for Ireland U20 Men
December 21, 2019
The Ireland U20 management team will be holding two open clinic/training sessions over the Christmas holidays.
The U20 programme is different to the other underage programmes, as it is a shorter programme because the management team is aware that players are involved at a high level of basketball both here in Ireland and also Stateside in colleges and prep schools and in Europe. They are also very conscious that some players will be finishing exams at different times.
Therefore, there will be two sessions held during the Christmas break:
1) December 29th, 2019 in Colaiste Éanna, Dublin
2) January 4th, 2020 in the Jes Coláiste Iognáid, Galway
Players who are interested in playing for the Ireland U20 men's team are invited to attend one of these sessions. The management team will then hold a talent identification session in April 2020. The idea behind the clinic days over Christmas is to familiarise players with the training, S/C and game analysis that occurs at this level.
The sessions will include players being brought through defensive and offensive drills and sets to show what will be expected from players selected. There will also be some sessions with the S/C coaches, team physio, sports psychologist and team game analyst where players can see what is involved and expected off them both on and off court in relation to team preparation.
Players interested in attending one of the two days can register via the application below.
There is a fee of €10 to cover gym hire costs.
Players are asked to bring a white and black t- shirt, a ball and lunch.
The sessions are also open to any of the player's coaches who wish to attend.
