June 02, 2020
Basketball Ireland wholeheartedly supports the fight against racism. Basketball Ireland has always promoted ethnic and cultural diversity as an organisation, within its leagues, schools and community.
In a statement the Board of Basketball Ireland said: “We have seen the protests in the USA and here in Ireland over the recent death of George Floyd. The basketball community in Ireland has a unique relationship with the USA and on behalf of everybody we would like to send our condolences to George Floyd’s family and friends".
“Sport is something that is unifying and brings people together, and we need to now more than ever to support each other”.
"Basketball Ireland works to be part of the solution on equality and injustices. There is zero tolerance for racism within Basketball Ireland and anyone with any concerns can contact our Compliance Officer, at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are constantly reviewing our inclusiveness policies and are here to listen to any feedback or suggestions that come from our community and beyond".
