Basketball Ireland is delighted to announce Andy Gill as the first guest speaker in the ‘Coaching Webinar Series’. The free 4-week series starts this Wednesday.

Gill is the current Ireland U16 head coach, a role he’s held since 2013, winning Basketball Ireland’s Female Underage Coach of the Year in 2016. He’s previously worked as Basketball Ireland’s North Academy Director and coached Thames Valley Tigers, Hemel Royals and Stevenage Greene King Rebels in the British Basketball League, winning the Division 1 Championship in 1997 with the Rebels.

Gill is a Level 3 Basketball Ireland and Basketball England coach. He has also completed a MSc in Sport Development and Coaching.

This Wednesday’s one-hour webinar is titled ‘Powering up your practice sessions, using simple ideas from the world of how people learn and do’. Among the things covered will be practice planning, skill acquisition, practice design and practice planning templates.

Registration for the webinars must be done in advance; you can do so by clicking here.  Details of the first webinar will be emailed to all attendees at 5.30pm on the 11^th, with the webinar starting at 7.30pm sharp.

The webinars are suitable for coaches of all experience levels, from beginner, club, or school coaches, right up to more experienced senior coaches. Each webinar completed will earn 10 CPD points, which can be used in conjunction with the Basketball Ireland Coaching Licensing Scheme.

The aim is to have these webinars as interactive as possible and although attendees will not be visible on screen, they will be able to submit questions through the chat function throughout each webinar. There will be poll questions asked during each webinar and in order to obtain the CPD points an attendee will be required to answer all poll questions. There will be no correct or incorrect answers to the questions, as the goal is information sharing and discussing practical issues coaches may encounter.
