December 21, 2020
Basketball Ireland is pleased to announce it has secured further funding from the Irish Government to help clubs dealing with the impact of Covid-19. It comes as Sport Ireland today announced €5.8m in Covid-19 Supplementary Funding for Sport. As a result Basketball Ireland registered clubs in the Republic of Ireland, that haven’t previously received money from the Sports Resilience Fund, will now be able to claim a grant of €700 each.
The additional funding, made available through Sport Ireland, is to specifically to defray costs that clubs have incurred directly due to the pandemic, such as providing sanitisers, temperature checks and additional equipment to reduce the transfer of equipment.
Claim forms will be issued to clubs and also made available via the Basketball Ireland website in the first week of January. Once the claim form is processed, funds will be issued immediately to eligible clubs.
Basketball Ireland CEO. Bernard O’Byrne, said: “This is a great boost to our clubs, especially the smaller ones. We sincerely thank Sport Ireland for their supportive stance during these trying times. This is some welcome good news just before Christmas.”
