Basketball Ireland issues updated registration guidance
February 16, 2021
The Board of Basketball Ireland has decided that players and officials registration fees paid for the 2020/21 season will be credited as registrations for the 2021/22 season.
Chairman of the Board, Paul McDevitt, said: “The Board met on Monday to discuss registrations, now that our normal 2020/21 season has formally been brought to a close. We are now targeting a resumption to action in May, should the health restrictions allow. By crediting registrations it will mean that players and officials who have registered already will be covered all the way through to the end of the 2021/22 season.”
Those who wish not to avail of this arrangement, can contact the Basketball Ireland Registrations Officer, Daryl Lambe, by emailing dlambe@basketballireland.ie and their request will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Basketball Ireland would like to remind players that injury insurance cover is in place for the 2020/21 season only when valid BIPIN’s for the 2020/21 season are in place and government restrictions are observed. There is no registration deadline for the 2020/21 season, to ensure flexibility for when our sport resumes, however injury claims will only be accepted if valid BIPIN’s are in place at the time of the accident/injury. Those who have registered for the 2020/21 season, will have injury insurance cover until the end of the 2021/22 season.
