Basketball Ireland is looking for players interested in representing Ireland in upcoming Esports competitions.

To be eligible to play you need to play NBA 2k21 on the PS4 or PS5. Players must have an Irish passport, be over 16 years of age by the 1^st of April 2021 and have a My Player rating of >95.

If you meet the criteria and are interested in playing, please email details of your playing experience and your My Player type to esports@basketballireland.ie before 5pm on Friday the 27^th of March.

Ireland has competed internationally once before as part of the FIBA Esports Open II. The Irish team won one of their group's games but were narrowly eliminated on points difference.

Team manager Conor Meany believes that the next international tournament could see Ireland have even more success: “We’re excited about potentially getting back to competition in the coming months. The last FIBA Open was a major learning curve for everyone involved as Ireland had never competed before. Hopefully we can build on the learnings from last year and continue to improve.”
