Dwyer and Fulton join EPC, as Rice named Chair
April 01, 2021
The Elite Performance Committee (EPC) of Basketball Ireland is delighted to welcome Niamh Dwyer and Adrian Fulton as its newest members. Both Dwyer and Fulton are legends of the game in their own right, and with their combination of playing and coaching experience, will bring a fresh perspective to the ongoing work of the EPC with our international programmes.
Speaking on their appointments Niamh Dwyer said: "I am delighted to be part of the EPC. Putting on the green jersey and representing Ireland has given me some of my proudest moments. I hope to be able to give back and support our national teams by committing to and supporting them through the work of the EPC. My ambition would be to continue to see our Irish national teams continue to close the gap with our European counterparts, which will have been made more difficult because of Covid-19 restrictions in the last year."
Adrian Fulton added: "I’m glad to have the opportunity to get involved with the EPC. We have had lots of healthy discussions about how to move the game forward in a positive way. It's a frustrating time for everyone involved in basketball in Ireland right now, but we are hopeful of better days ahead. If I can help in any way to raise the standard of the game and improve the quality of the experience for our international players then that would be great."
The EPC’s new Chair is Tim Rice, an American based in North Dakota who has served on the EPC for nearly five years. Rice has extensive experience in coaching basketball at various levels in the United States, as well as in Ireland for nearly a year. He is a University professor for the University of Arizona Global Campus along with three other universities in the U.S.
