Return to Play Injury Reduction Programme Cycle 2
May 30, 2021
Last month we brought you Phase 1 of an 11 week Return to Play Injury Reduction Programme by co-Heads of Basketball Ireland Athlete Development, Pete Madsen and Kevin Foley, in association with Dr. Siobhan O’Connor and Peter Lacey from the School of Health & Performance at DCU. You can read that here.
With the continued easing of restrictions and more players around the country readying themselves for their return to competition, the co-authors now present Phase 2.
Cycle 2 of the RTP Injury Reduction Programme is a 4 week off-court body weight programme designed to help basketball players of all levels prepare for a return to the court. Cycle 2 is a slightly more progressed version of Cycle 1 and will help athletes meet the physical demands of basketball more effectively. The guide also includes a ‘Quick Guide’ which can be printed and used during training sessions as a reference or exercise guide.
