July 07, 2021
Deadline to apply is 1700 on July 26th
Basketball Ireland is pleased to announced that the accreditation process for the FIBA European Championship for Small Countries is now open. The tournament takes place at the National Basketball Arena in Dublin from August 10th-15th. Those wishing to apply should email firstname.lastname@example.org using the subject title ‘FIBA accreditation’. You must include your name, media organisation, position (journalist/videographer/photographer) and submit a photo (JPG, colour photo, aspect ratio 3.5 x 4.5cm, min image size 276 x 354 pixels, max file size 8MB).
Media and photographers wishing to attend must email their completed application form by Monday 26th July at 1700 (IST, local). Late applications cannot be processed and will be refused. Due to Covid-19 restrictions on numbers in-venue, there will be a limited number of accreditations granted.
All media and photographers wishing to attend the tournament must arrange their own PCR tests and provide one negative PCR test result not older than 48 hours upon collecting their accreditation or prior to first entrance at the venue. This includes those vaccinated or with a previous Covid-19 infection. The cost of all testing is borne by the media outlet/photography agency/freelancer and accreditation is subject to approval. Failure to provide a negative PCR test result, along with proof of vaccination, or recent positive serology test result (as applicable), will mean that accreditation for the event shall not be granted. FIBA/Basketball Ireland may require all accredited media who are not vaccinated and do not have a recent positive serology from a previous COVID-19 infection to undergo periodic rapid antigen testing during the FIBA European Championship for Small Countries, in order to minimise risks of COVID-19 transmission.
Temperature checking is mandatory on arrival to the National Basketball Arena, with media required fill in contact tracing via a QR-code on-site. The application of hand sanitiser on arrival is also mandatory. All media (except commentators during the game) and photographers will be required to wear a face mask at all times when in the venue. Media and photographers must adhere to access and egress signage at the venue. There will be a distance of at least 1.5m between seating in the media tribune and photographer positions. Each accredited individual will be given an allocated seat, which must be used for the duration of the tournament. There will be no media working room provided at the National Basketball Arena.
There will be no formal press conferences. Virtual post-game media opportunities will be accommodated, with details to follow. Access to in-person interviews on-site will be limited or null, depending on the epidemiological situation. Competing teams and officials at the FIBA European Championship for Small Countries are operating in a bubble system, media are reminded not to encroach the court, or seek unauthorised interviews with teams or officials.
