Women's Premier League: Who's New?

The Womenâs Premier League will have plenty of fresh faces with over 30 players joining up, coming through and flying in for the 2015-2016 season.
Dublin clubs have recruited strongly in a bid to bring silverware to the capital. Aoife McDermottâs switch from Meteors has shortened DCU Mercyâs odds. Mark Ingleâs side have also brought in former junior International Mairead McNally from Ulster Rockets and American pair Maleeka Kynard (Xavier University) and Chelisa Painter (Old Dominion) while some of the U18 National Cup finalists also step up.
Emma Sherwood will be a Premier League basketball player in 2015. The former Tralee star also reached a 2015 All-Ireland Ladies Football Semi-Final with Kerry and joins up with Pyrobel Killester who also welcome Raeshel Contreras to Dublin out of South Dakota. Aisling McCann transfers from Templeogue and is one of a number of players fresh from playing with Ireland at the U18 European Championships whoâll play national league this season.
New Meteors Head Coach Mark Byrne will have new Americans to work as the Ganser sisters are replaced by Emily Leer (Villanova University) and Meghan McGuinness (Niagara University).
Maxol WIT Wildcats also have a new coach at the helm in Michael Evans. Jazmen Boone (William & Mary) and Katie Fox (St Francis College) are also in the south east for the season, although an injury to Fox in her first appearance has put a four week delay on her league debut.
Singleton SuperValu Brunell have brought in the wingspan of 6â4ââ Canadian Kaylee Kilpatrick to replace the outgoing Katie Hannemann while U18 International Amy Murphy can expect minutes in Kieran OâLearyâs young side.Team Montenotte Hotel have made one significant addition in a bid to retain their titles. Boston University Alum Chantell Alford is the first player in America East history to earn three Player of the Year honours and switches to Glanmire after a season with Tsmoki Minsk.
UL Huskies welcome back Avril Crosse after a season with Canterbury Crusaders in England and new Head Coach Des OâSullivan can also count on the services of Sarah Benedetti on scholarship.
Courtyard Liffey Celtics have replaced Shelby Smith with American point guard with Christine Verrelle (Dowling College). Sorcha Tiernan is one of the clubâs rising stars who have also registered. Head Coach for 2014-2015 is Jordi Juste who spent last season in Menâs Division One with JM&L Auctioneers Titans.
Portlaoise Panthers will be relying on new American Nicole Arnone to deliver while Head Coach Peter OâSullivan waits on a number of last seasonâs roster to come back after time away from the game. The midlanders are also looking at further recruiting for their first season in Premier League basketball.
