Hibernia Squad Confirmed For FIBA Europe Cup.
Hibernia Basketball have confirmed the 16 players who will represent Ireland in European club basketball for the first time in over 20 years. The combined club side will compete in the group stages of the FIBA Europe Cup this Autumn with eight players returning from the Menâs Premier League Select squad who played at the Sino-European Championships in China.
Fit again Player Coach Colin OâReilly is one of six C&S UCC Demons players in the squad along with newcomers Lehmon Colbert and Adrian OâSullivan.
âWeâre not trying to reinvent the wheel,â said OâReilly. âWeâre just trying to make sure we put the best team we can on the floor in the shortest time possible.â
Moycullen duo Dylan Cunningham and Patrick Lyons make the cut along with Dubliners Luke Thompson and Neil Baynes.
âA few players that didnât make the China trip stood out to us in training and needed a little more time. Theyâve gotten used to what weâre trying to do and now those players are ready to step up.â
Templeogue trio Jason Killeen, Michael Bonaparte and Conor Grace are named though Killeenâs ongoing knee injury is likely to limit his involvement in the early rounds. Kevin Lacey returns to the fold as do big men Martins Provizors of DCU Saints and Keelan Cairns of Belfast Star.
