The 3rd quarter was a much more competitive affair with Templeogue finally starting to play to their potential on both ends of the floor. Although Templeogue edged the scoring in the 3rd quarter, Elks continued to hold a strong lead, with Paddy McGarahan hitting a succession of shots from the floor. Buoyed on by a very loud and passionate support, Templeogue were able to continue their comeback into the 4th quarter. With excellent performances from Phil Taylor and Tomas Swiatowy in particular, Templeogue got within 10 points with 3 minutes left. However they were unable to bridge the gap and Elks held on for an opening win. So a great start to the campaign for Ulster Elks, and Templogue will take positives from their strong 2nd half performance and the great support from a large home crowd.
